Each year, the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) does its part to feed the residential construction industry with new, up and coming professionals by awarding scholarships to attend IBS.
Attending IBS gives NAHB Members between the ages of 21-35 the opportunity to advance their careers with education, networking and more at the Builders’ Show.

We’re excited to introduce eight more of our 2024 IBS Scholars and the challenges they hope to overcome by attending IBS in Part 3 of this 3-part series.
Adam Riley | Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association
Adam Riley is the president of LTD Contracting. “I look forward to the education and networking with different vendors and individuals to bring those ideas and materials back to our community.”
Alison Simpson | Utah Valley HBA
Alison Simpson is a professional engineer for Acute Engineering. “I’m looking forward to learning more about new state-of-the-art building practices and materials that will help to make future housing developments more affordable and sustainable.”
Amanda Holman | HBA of Greater Knoxville
Amanda Holman is a loan officer for Movement Mortgage. “The challenges I aim to tackle at the International Builders’ Show are primarily focused on personal and professional growth. Attending as many education workshops as possible is essential for staying updated on the latest industry trends, best practices and innovative strategies. I want to absorb knowledge that I can apply in my role as a loan officer to better serve my clients and contribute to the success of my local association. I’m eager to network and establish connections with industry partners. Building strong relationships with fellow professionals allows for collaboration and sharing of insights. By fostering these connections, I hope to bring fresh ideas and opportunities back to my local association, helping it grow and thrive.”
Holly Schneider | Wichita Area Builders Association
Holly Schneider is showroom manager for Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery. “I am looking forward to exploring the new products and trends of our industry. Sometimes it feels as though being in the Midwest we are a bit slower to catch on to what is going on the coasts, and I believe I can bring back a lot of knowledge to our area. In addition to what is new in the building world, I am looking forward to networking with peers and learning ways to improve as a young leader in the industry, not only myself, but for our customers, business and for future generations.”
Kate McAteer | HBA Durham, Orange & Chatham (NC)
Kate McAteer is director of construction programs for Hope Renovations. “I am really looking forward to connecting with vendors and hearing about new products in the universal design sector, as well as learning about new tools that can make our work more efficient and safer.”
Nick Scaranda | Denver HBA
Nick Scaranda is a superintendent for D.R. Horton. “Overcoming any shyness and learning a lot, as well as networking to the best of my ability. I want to grow as a professional, and I imagine this experience will help in many ways.”
Ty Whitman | Home Builders of Greater Aiken Augusta Region
Ty Whitman is purchasing/estimating assistant manager for Ivey Residential LLC. “I’d like to find a better way to manage time and see what other markets are doing to manage cost creep on production homes.”
