Each year, the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) does its part to feed the residential construction industry with new, up and coming professionals by awarding scholarships to attend IBS.
Attending IBS gives NAHB Members between the ages of 21-35 the opportunity to advance their careers with education, networking and more at the Builders’ Show.
2024 IBS Scholarship Recipients
We’re excited to introduce eight of our 2024 IBS Scholars and the challenges they hope to overcome by attending IBS in Part 1 of this 3-part series.
Jon Beer | NYS Builders Association
Jon Beer is the owner and lead carpenter of Jon Beer Contracting, a New York-based design-build construction company. “I’d like to understand what others are doing in regard to employee retention, training, and adding structure to the residential construction world.”
Elizabeth Boone | BIA of Lancaster
Elizabeth Boone is a structural engineer for Myer Hill Consulting, an engineering consulting firm based in Lancaster, PA. “I am not well connected in the industry and have limited knowledge about construction methods. I hope to begin my career networking on this trip and learn more about the industry because engineering can be very “heady” and neglect the physical feasibility of what we design. It’s important to know more about the buildings I am designing and meet those people who can teach me about that.”
Vitoria Dante | Home Builders Association of Metro Denver
Vitoria Dante is a builder accounts specialist for Colten Mortgage in Colorado. “I would love to get a deeper understanding of the home building industry from ALL perspectives, not just from the lending aspect. I am only 2.5 years into this industry, so I have a lot to learn but IBS will be the perfect opportunity for me to absorb it all like a sponge and use the knowledge I gain for the future.”
Daytrieon Dean | Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee
Daytrieon Dean is a senior land acquisitions specialist for South West Acquisitions. “At IBS, I’m eager to tackle the challenges related to land acquisition and development cost optimization. I’m also interested in exploring creative strategies to increase housing inventory and address affordability issues. These are crucial issues in the real estate and home building industry, and I believe finding innovative solutions will be both challenging and rewarding.”
Josh Gibbons | Building Industry Association of Philadelphia
Josh Gibbons is a residential/commercial lender for CrossCountry Mortgage, LLC. “I want to learn how others spread the good works of builders and how others are doing networking events.”
Andrew Grant | North State BIA
Andrew Grant is a forward planning manager for Meritage Homes – Northern California Division. “I want to see the industry attract the next generation of young people. It’s a great industry to work in, but we need to get the word out about it.”
Bree Jones | Maryland Building Industry Association
Bree Jones is the founder and CEO of Parity Homes. “I’m excited to give my team the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry.”
Eliot Kahn | The Home Building Association of Greater Portland
Eliot Kahn is the CEO of HumanKind Homes. “Coming from outside the industry brings both benefits and hurdles – attending an event like this provides an amazing opportunity to connect with and learn from folks with incredible amounts of industry knowledge.”
