Meet Our Speakers Series: Megan Eltringham

Megan Eltringham serves as Corporate VP of Marketing for The New Home Company. She is responsible for integrated marketing campaigns and brand management standards across all divisions in Southern California, Northern California and Arizona. Megan has received several prestigious industry awards, including being named in one of Professional Builder magazine’s 2018 “40 Under 40” lists.

At the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), Megan will be one of three speakers at the session “Appealing to the Next Generations: Current Patterns, Behaviors & Preferences of Gen Z & Millennials.” We caught up with her to get a sneak peek into her session.

NAHB: Without giving too much away, what will people learn at your sessions?
MEGAN: Attendees will learn how health, technology and the environment are important to the new generation of buyers, and how to evolve our messaging and marketing to better connect with them.

NAHB: What’s the one thing you are most looking forward to while attending IBS?
MEGAN: I enjoy learning more on how we can be different and continue to evolve.

NAHB: What’s the best hangout spot at IBS?
MEGAN: I love walking the show floor and seeing the many new products and innovative technologies available.

NAHB: How has this industry changed in the last five years?
MEGAN: Consumers are more educated. They do most of their research online before ever visiting a model.

NAHB: What do you predict will happen in the next five years?
MEGAN: Sales environments will change in how you can purchase a home. Will you be able to purchase a new home online?

NAHB: What do you see as being the biggest challenge in the industry now?
MEGAN: Housing attainability and whether the Gen Z and Millennial generations see the value in purchasing a home.

NAHB: What is the one piece of practical advice you would give someone starting out?
MEGAN: Be proactive and get involved.

NAHB: What was the best concert you ever attended?

NAHB: Where’s your favorite place in the world?
MEGAN: Italy

MEGAN: I can play the violin.

MEGAN: Everything revolved around Christmas time and our many family traditions.

NAHB: What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
MEGAN: Sailing or riding horses

NAHB: What is your prediction for the building industry in 2020?
MEGAN: Not much will change, but businesses will continue to evolve, get smarter and more cost-effective in their practices.
