Meet Our Speakers Series: Luis Poggi

Luis Poggi, MBA is the senior director of Product
Management for Zillow Group. He has led the launch of several key ventures and
is instrumental in driving the product direction for Zillow Group’s new
construction homes. He will be presenting twice at the 2017 NAHB International
Builders’ Show® (IBS): a Building Knowledge session, “A
Builder’s Guide to Killer Content”
and a Sales Central presentation, “Behavior
Data: What Are Your Buyers Most Interested in for 2017?”

We caught up with Luis to get a sneak peek into his
session and a few fun tidbits, too.

NAHB: What are
you are looking forward to the most at IBS?

LUIS: Connecting
and exchanging big ideas with the leaders of this fascinating building
industry.

NAHB: Do you
have a favorite blog?

LUIS: Wait But Why. Tim Urban does frequent in-depth
research of hot technology topics, then he explains those complex topics in
very simple terms. Some of the topics include: The Artificial Intelligence Revolution,
How (and Why) Space X Will Colonize Mars and How Tesla Will Change the World.

NAHB: What
industry trends are you most excited about?

LUIS: Three
things: immersive experiences and the impact of virtual reality (VR) and
augmented reality (AR) in the way users will explore homes and home
improvements; self-driven cars and the impact on urbanism; and immediate
services and the impact on builders’ marketing activities.

NAHB: Without
giving too much away, what can you share with industry professionals who are
looking to create “killer content”?

LUIS: When
displaying new homes online on platforms like Zillow and Trulia, the number of
professional photos on your listing matter, the number of words on your
community description matter and the types of words you use in your listings
description matter. We have the data to prove it.

NAHB: You are
in Seattle so what’s a “must see” spot you’d recommend to out-of-town visitors?

LUIS: Visitors
should do the Boeing Factory Tour. The Everett Boeing tour offers the chance to
come close to the assembly of its many venerable aircraft. The building is the
largest production assembly line in the world. And of course, you also need to
say hi to the Freemont Troll.

NAHB: Best
book read in the last year?

LUIS: Shoe Dog: A Memoir by the Creator of Nike
by Phil Knight. It is a very entertaining book that gives the inside story of
the company’s early days as an intrepid start-up and its evolution into one of
the world’s most iconic, game-changing and profitable brands.
