The New American Home 2022: Phase 2 Update

Large, two story house with palm tree and lawn.

The New American Home® 2022 (TNAH) is being built in the trendsetting community of Laureate Park at Lake Nona. This three-story 4,646 square foot home is designed by BSB Design and constructed by Envy Homes.

“The New American Home is a great opportunity to try new products and to incorporate different ways to build,” explains Serena Hahn, CEO of Envy Homes. “It’s a conversation about what we see in the market and what we think is going to move in the market.”

Phase 2 is the rough-in phase, where the big push is to get all of the mechanicals installed behind the walls so the home can move into insulation and then drywall. “Those are the next big transitions where the house starts to feel like a space that you can walk through … and starts to come to life,” shares Hahn.

The house is a courtyard house which allows viewing the home from any angle. Hahn explains that the home design was intentional because of the narrow lot. She explains that while building on a narrow lot does present challenges, it also affords the ability to think outside of the box and do something different.

“I don’t think luxury has to have the highest price point, and that’s why we chose to use architectural elements as design,” notes Hahn. One example was to use windows as dramatic interest – almost like a piece of art. “It started with a shell, like most houses … and keeps growing and changing.”
