Meet Our Speakers Series: Bruce Christopher

Bruce Christopher is a psychologist and speaker with two
rules for every presentation he gives: “Laugh ‘til you cry and learn ‘til you
change.” He inspires audiences from around the globe by giving them real,
immediate solutions for change without fluff and hype. With over 150 speaking
engagements annually, he is one of today’s most sought-after speakers in the
Fortune 500.

At the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) in
January, Bruce will present two sessions, “The
Psychology Behind Success: What Do the Superstars of Success Know that the Rest
of Us Can Learn From?
” and “Bambi
vs. Godzilla: Dealing with Difficult People & Keys to Empowered Communications
.”

We caught up with Bruce to get a sneak peek into his
sessions.

NAHB: Without
giving too much away, what will people learn at your IBS sessions?

BRUCE: The
programs I am presenting [at IBS 2018] are full of content … and humor!

In the first session, “The Psychology Behind Success,”
I’ll show folks how to manage and motivate themselves through obstacles to
achieve the goals they want. In the second session, “Bambi vs. Godzilla,” I’ll
introduce the six basic difficult personalities and explain what these types of
people do, why they do it and what to do about it.

NAHB: Why
should people come to the show to hear you speak?

BRUCE: What
sets me apart from other speakers is that I am able to weave comedy with
content. I believe the audience is learning the most when they are laughing a
lot. I have been speaking professionally for over 20 years, and what I have
heard time and again is something like, “I thought I was going to a lecture,
but it was more like a stand-up comedy show!”

NAHB: What’s
the one thing you are looking forward to the most while at IBS?

BRUCE: Meeting
and greeting all the great people who attend the show.

NAHB: Best
hangout spot at IBS …

BRUCE: The
back room after one of my education sessions, of course!

NAHB: Best
memory from IBS last year …

BRUCE: When they
wouldn’t let anyone else into the room because it was full!

NAHB: What’s
your favorite part about public speaking?

BRUCE: It’s
the feeling I get when I know I have this group going where I want them to go.
They are engaged, entertained and taking home information that might have a
great impact on their lives. Priceless!

NAHB: What
book did you read last?

BRUCE: I
finished the book, A Man on the Moon: The
Voyages of the Apollo Astronauts
by Andrew Chaikin. It’s the story of how
bravery, vision and engineering came together to get us to the moon. Amazing!

NAHB: What is
your favorite travel spot and why?

BRUCE: I love
to scuba dive at The Sunset House on Grand Cayman—amazing crystal-clear water.

NAHB: If you
could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

BRUCE: Lead
guitarist for a famous rock band.
