Profile: Meet the Faces of IBS

What area of the building industry do you represent?
We are a software company that provides solutions for home builders, and we recently developed an app called My Home’s Story.

What prompted the development of your app?
As the third generation of a family homebuilding company, we wanted to use our sales, marketing and technology experience to solve a problem that a lot of builders face; how to use social media marketing effectively. We realized that if we could get our homebuyers talking about us on social media, it would be much more effective than just talking about ourselves. The My Home’s Story app was developed to allow builders to post content that buyers will be interested in sharing (photos of their own homes), and making it very easy for the buyers to share that with their friends and family via social media. These shares include a link back to the builder’s website, driving traffic, leads and referral sales.

At McArthur Homes, we saw a 400% increase in referral sales thanks to the My Home’s Story app. At IBS, we were able to share this great success story during the education session, Secrets of the Internet Marketing All-Stars. The response has been amazing!

Why did you choose to attend the 2014 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS)?
This was my first year attending IBS, and I decided to go because I wanted to see what solutions other software companies where providing to the industry. Additionally, I wanted to network and get the word out about our product, My Home’s Story.

What do you find to be the most valuable reason for attending IBS?
During the show, I attended many of the technology workshops and found those to be very valuable. I liked learning about how others were using technology in the home building industry. I definitely will attend next year and look forward to learning more about the ways in which home builders are applying technology to their companies.
