Each year, the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) does its part to feed the residential construction industry with new, up-and-coming professionals by awarding scholarships to attend the Builders’ Show.
Attending IBS gives NAHB Members between the ages of 21 – 35 the opportunity to advance their careers with education, networking and more at the Builders’ Show.
IBS 2025 Scholarship Recipients
We’re excited to introduce the final eight of our IBS 2025 Scholars and what they are most excited to experience or take advantage of while at IBS in Part 3 of this 3-part series
Hussein Mokahal | HBA of Southeastern Michigan
Hussein Mokahal is the president of The Led Lion Inc. and a licensed builder dedicated to advancing sustainable construction practices. “I’m excited to dive into all the latest innovations, meet people who geek out over building just like I do, and walk away with new ideas that’ll make me feel like a construction superhero. Who knows, I might even find something that’ll make my next project a little more legendary!”
Daniel Moreno | Lee County Building Industry Association
Daniel Moreno is a co-founder and managing partner at PAC Builders, a company he started with his mentor, Daniel’s father. “I’m excited to network with other professionals and learn about the latest innovations in building technologies and sustainable practices. I’m also looking forward to meeting other young professionals in the industry, sharing experiences, and learning from each other. It’s always great to connect with like-minded people who are just as passionate about building as I am.”
Andrew ‘Knox’ Newell | Greater Montgomery Home Builders Association
Knox Newell is a superintendent for Mathews Development Company in Auburn, AL and holds his Alabama builder’s license. “I am most excited to learn about all of the latest and greatest product developments that suppliers will be showcasing at IBS. I am also excited to learn about new management techniques that will help me to become a more effective leader and manager in my day to day roles.”
Allison Perrault | Home Builders & Remodeling Association of Maine
Allison Perreault is the operations coordinator at Great Northern Builders, a design-build company whose goal is to provide safe, happy and predictable home remodeling. “I’m so excited about all of it, but especially the Building Knowledge Sessions.”
Cecelia Stevens | HBA of Greenville
Cecelia Stevens is the lead architectural designer at Ferguson Builders, LLC in Greenville, SC. “I’m really excited about all the learning opportunities at IBS. I have attended the furniture markets over the past few years and while that’s great, I’m looking forward to learning more about the construction industry. I love working at a Design-Build company and as the Lead Architectural Designer, I want to bolster my knowledge base and be a more reliable resource to my clients and team.”
Betsy Walker | MBA of King & Snohomish Counties
Betsy Walker is a marketing professional at Lochwood-Lozier. With degrees in psychology and human development from Washington State University, she began her career as a relationship and project manager within the fire and water restoration industry. “I’m really looking forward to the chance to step outside of my usual bubble. Working in the same market day in and day out can sometimes make it feel like you’re in a creative loop. Events like IBS are a breath of fresh air because they expose you to new trends, innovative ideas, and fresh perspectives that you wouldn’t normally encounter. It’s such a rejuvenating experience to see what others are doing across the country and internationally. I’m excited to connect with other professionals, gather new inspiration, and bring those ideas back to our projects and processes. Plus, there’s always something really rewarding about networking in person and building relationships with industry leaders!”
Kelsey Wartman | Builders Contractors Association of Southwestern Idaho
Kelsey Wartman is a Realtor® and co-owner of Boise Roots Real Estate. “This will be my first time at IBS so I am excited to see everything! I love to learn so I will definitely be joining in on the classes and workshops. One of my favorite things about a convention is just getting the chance to meet new people and make connections.”
Lucy Wilson | MBA of Pierce County
Lucy Wilson is a project developer for Reier Construction. “I’m really looking forward to the educational experiences at IBS! I plan to explore a wide range of classes, from sales and project management to design. After six years in this industry, I’ve learned so much, but there’s always more to absorb, and I’m eager to expand my knowledge further. I’m also excited about the networking opportunities; some of the best insights come from connecting with others who have faced similar challenges.”
