IBS 2023 Scholarship Winners

Each year, the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) does its part to feed the residential construction industry with new, up and coming professionals by awarding scholarships to attend IBS.

Attending IBS gives NAHB Members between the ages of 21-35 the opportunity to advance their careers with education, networking and more at the Builders’ Show.

2023 IBS Scholarship Recipients

We’re excited to introduce seven of our 2023 IBS Scholars in Part 1 of this 3-part series.

Allison Andrews is a manager for the building and investment companies Andrews Investments, LLC., Andrews and Hayley, LLC., and Andrews and Hodgkins, LLC. She is also a licensed affiliate broker with Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, McLemore & Co., Realty in Collierville Tennessee and manages rental properties for Patterson Street Properties, LLC and Tiger Den LLC. “I want to absorb it all but need to remain focused on what we need to learn for our business and for what I am trying to accomplish in my career individually.”

Jacob Asay is a home builder and real estate developer in Fort Worth, TX. He is the president of Indwell Homes and co-owner of Crestline Residential. Both companies focus on helping families find affordable quality homes by constructing entry-level speculative housing. Jacob also builds a few custom homes a year. “I am most excited about educating myself on the latest industry trends and networking with my peers.”

Hayden Berson is a land acquisition project manager for D.R. Horton. Along with his team, Hayden is responsible for creating long-term relationships with brokers, landowners and other home builders in Central California. “At IBS, I want to expand my relationships in the industry while learning about the successes of others who are outside of California.”

Colin Bluestone is a land acquisition financial analyst for the D.R. Horton Seattle Division. His main responsibility is ensuring the financial feasibility of development projects through acquisition. Additionally, Colin assists with the formulation of the division’s business plan. “I am looking forward to attending as many workshops and speaking events at IBS that I can to increase my base of knowledge. Specifically, I would like to learn how other home builders are adjusting to the current financial environment in which inflation is increasing construction costs and fiscal policy is impacting cost of capital.”

Jade Bone is a realtor, new construction specialist and online sales consultant for Integrity Real Estate/Homes of Integrity Construction. “Learning new material, selling approaches and trends on where the market is heading is top of my list for attending IBS.”

Gama Cancino is a director of construction for Rivendale Homes Texas. He represents the residential construction sector, specifically to complete 12-20 spec homes for Rivendale Homes Texas in Austin on a yearly basis. “I have two challenges I want to research at IBS: 1. Given the market, how should we prepare our volume, employees, etc.? 2. Would like to learn more about new hardie products.”

Dylan Francis is a warranty and project manager for JEMM Construction. “At IBS, I plan to learn as much as possible about our industry from the best the NAHB has to offer.”

 

IBS 2023: The Essential Industry Experience for Up & Coming Professionals

There is so much to do, see, learn and experience for residential construction professionals at the Builders’ Show. The exhibit floor, networking events and education sessions provide up and coming industry professionals the chance to mingle with and learn from their more experienced colleagues and industry experts.

There are also events, networking and more tailored for the up and comers of the industry. The IBS Young Pro Party is one of the ticketed events for residential construction professionals under the age of 40 to connect and network in a social setting.
