Many construction or remodeling businesses run on a lean operational budget and are too small to have a full-time legal advisor on staff or on retainer. This is why it’s important to understand basic contract law.

The Construction Contracts and Law Course is ideal for builders, remodelers, designers and more as it will help you decipher the many details of the legal contracts you need to operate your business, such as mandatory and option provisions, warranties and arbitration procedures. Graduates will be able to:

  • Describe elements, benefits and interpretation principles of contracts.
  • Gain a better understanding of contracts used within the industry (sales agreements, construction contracts, remodeling contracts, warranties and subcontractor agreements), and their mandatory and optional provisions.
  • Identify additional resources related to construction law.
  • Recognize how contracts sustain positive customer and supplier relationships, provide a basis for resolution of disputes and minimize the risk of litigation.

The Construction Contracts and Law Course provides six hours of continuing education credits for these NAHB designations: CAPS, CGA, CGB, CGP, CGR, CMP, CSP, GMB, GMR, Master CGP, Master CSP and MIRM.

This course will be offered the Monday, January 20, 2020—as part of the pre-show education. Registration for this course, along with many others, opens on August 1, 2019.
