At the 2026 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), the global conversation returned and roared back to life.
After pausing in 2025, International Central made a comeback in 2026. The lounge filled quickly with handshakes, business cards and quiet, intense conversations that only happen when people from different markets gather around the same table.
And yes, we brought the presentations back, too.
The Sessions That Sparked the Most Buzz
One thing is very clear. Engagement was strong, the questions were thoughtful and the conversations kept going long after the sessions ended.
The programs that drew particularly strong interest included:
- Ukraine Housing Market: From War-Time Resilience to the Largest Reconstruction Opportunity in Europe
A timely and meaningful discussion that gave attendees insight into rebuilding efforts, investment realities and long-term housing needs in the region. The room was focused, reflective and deeply engaged. - Meet the Experts
Meet the Experts – Leveraging Networks for International Business, Meet the Experts – What We Wish We Knew Before Doing Business in the U.S. and Meet the Experts – Overcoming Tariffs and Supply Chain Disruption were three presentations that quickly became impactful. The format invited direct access, practical advice and honest conversations. No big stage barriers. Only industry professionals leaning in, asking specific questions and getting actionable answers. - Healthy, Resilient Development Opportunities
This session struck a chord with builders and developers looking ahead. Resilience is no longer theoretical. It is strategic. The discussion blended global perspective with real-world application in a way that resonated across markets.
Small Room. Big Conversations.
One of the most noticeable shifts this year was how much attendees appreciated the smaller presentation format. International Central became less of a pass-through space and more of a connection hub.
People stayed.
They circled back.
They introduced colleagues to speakers.
During and after each presentation, clusters formed naturally. Builders from different countries compared notes. Delegates exchanged ideas about supply chains, workforce development and design trends. The energy felt collaborative rather than transactional.
Mentorship Was a Throughline
Throughout presentations, the importance of mentorship was consistently emphasized. Not only formal programs and career advice, but real relationships, knowledge transfer and intentional door-opening. The members of the Global Opportunities Network, as the advisory group/liaisons for international attendees and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), played an active role in providing mentorship and guidance in International Central.
International Central was also the place for international attendees to learn more about the benefits of becoming an NAHB International Member. In a space filled with international industry professionals navigating complex markets, that mentorship and guidance message landed. Experience matters, but so does lifting the next generation into the room.
A Strong Return
International Central’s return in 2026 reminded us that the Builders’ Show is not just about products or education. It is about perspective. When global markets sit side by side, the industry grows stronger.
From every visible measure, International Central came back with purpose and momentum.
