The Final Phase of The New American Home: Collaboration at Full Force

TNAH 2026

When you bring the full force of a team together, something electric happens. For Alair Homes, The New American Home®, the official show home of the 2026 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS), was exactly that kind of moment. Not just a build. A chance to demonstrate what is possible when vision, trust and craftsmanship all pull in the same direction.

This show home is not a spec home. It was built for a customer – a customer that leaned into the process with trust and courage, embraced bold ideas and gave the team room to design without fear.

Architecture That Opens to the Horizon

The first impression begins with glass. Massive windows stretch across the front of the home. In the rear, large-format windows dissolve the boundary between inside and outside. Then there is the infinity edge pool.

At sunset, the pool reflects the lake beyond it so seamlessly that the pool becomes the lake and the lake becomes the sky. The primary living space spans the first and second floors with five bedrooms, four full baths and two half baths. Despite its scale, the home feels intentional rather than overwhelming.

Part of that magic comes from the additional spaces thoughtfully woven into the property. An ADU rests by the lake. A separate studio, reached by crossing a striking glass bridge, offers a dramatic arrival experience and flexible living for guests or extended family.

This house can host a crowd with ease. It can also contract into an intimate, joy-filled retreat for a single family. It knows how to perform and how to rest.

A Kitchen Built to Perform

With caterers in mind, the kitchen had to function at a professional level while remaining approachable for everyday use. Refrigeration, freezers and wine storage are top tier. Every element was chosen with performance in mind. Whether hosting a large gathering or preparing a quiet weeknight dinner, the kitchen rises to the occasion.

The Basement Reimagined

Then there is the basement. The design team described the concept in two words: Batcave energy. Working with Nichiha, they created a dramatic aesthetic using black reflective glass panels outlined with LED strips. The lighting traces parking spaces like glowing runway markers in a private automotive gallery.

It is bold. It is cinematic. It is a reminder that even utilitarian spaces can be elevated into experiences.

A Primary Suite That Feels Like a Refuge

Upstairs, the primary bedroom overlooks the lake and becomes something entirely different. A sanctuary. A retreat. Glass railings preserve unobstructed views. A balcony spa offers outdoor relaxation. Whether reading in bed at night or waking with the morning light, the lake is always in sight.

It is a refuge with a front row seat to nature.

Collaboration as the Cornerstone

A home of this magnitude does not come together in isolation, especially within the compressed timeline required for a showcase debut. It demanded extraordinary collaboration.

The final phase of this home is more than finishes and fixtures. It is proof of what happens when architects, designers, builders and manufacturers align around a shared goal.

See it in Person at IBS 2026

IBS registrants have the opportunity to experience it firsthand during a tour, February 17 to 19. Walking through the home reveals what photos cannot fully capture.
