Get to Know Chelsey

We caught up with Chelsey to get a sneak peek into her session at the Builders’ Show and get to know her a little better.

What information or actionable takeaways can attendees expect to walk away with from your session?
Attendees can leave with a deeper understanding of how connecting with different cultures within your own company and hiring process will further improve your multicultural sales process.

What are you most looking forward to at IBS?
I’m most looking forward to connecting with other builders that have an open mind to learning and growing and giving them the tools that they need to do so.

What advice would you give to someone attending the Builders’ Show for the first time?
I would tell people to talk to as many people as possible. It can be overwhelming with the number of people there, but this is the best opportunity you’ll have all year to make meaningful connections within this industry.

Where is the best place to be at IBS? Why?
This one is difficult! I would say the speaking sessions, for sure, to gain more information and insights. Besides that, I do like to hang out in Sales Central because I wind up running into a lot of people within the industry whom I like to chat with!

What is the most interesting 2023 industry trend?
I would say the most interesting trend is having to go back to selling! The past two years were easy, and now having to go back to nurturing leads and re-learning how to sell AND adapting to new technology is interesting to see how different builders are handling the challenges.

The industry has changed so much in the last five years. What changes do you think we’ll see in the next five years?
I hope that we will see a lot more builders adapt to non-traditional ways of selling, such as TikTok, text messaging and self-tours. I also think we’re going to see a HUGE shift in customer experience and how we take care of our homeowners POST contract.

What do you think is the biggest challenge in the industry right now?
While there are many, I think the biggest challenge is that people are moving out of WANT and not out of need, so there is less demand to move right now. This is hurting the market badly.

Chelsey’s session is “Connecting with Your Buyers’ Cultural, Generational & Lifestyle Needs,” a Building Knowledge session at the Builders’ Show. It’s happening February 2, 10:30-11:30 AM.
