NAHB: Without giving too much away, what will people learn at your IBS Education session?
NORB: This year’s program is a deep dive into what a project manager (or any leader on the job) needs to create a team mentality, communicate effectively, organize and control the job, and most importantly, manage and lead your team to maximum profits and success.

NAHB: What is the one thing you are looking forward to the most while attending IBS?
NORB: I met so many great people last year, so the people! This conference is unique because everyone is excited to be there and ready to learn to help enhance their work experience … and the fountains at the Bellagio are a sight to see!

NAHB: What is the most interesting industry trend for 2019?
NORB: The desire for contractors to improve the management and leadership skills of their field—with teamwork being the generator for productivity.

NAHB: How has the industry changed in the past 5 years?
NORB: I’ve noticed a real desire from workers, foremen and project managers to get better at what they do, and also a change in mindset and desire to be more proactive.

NAHB: What is the biggest challenge in the industry at the moment?
NORB: Procuring and retaining a talented workforce.

NAHB: What is one piece of practical advice you would give to someone starting out?
NORB: Nothing comes easy. You need to work hard to get ahead. Put your head down and do the best work you can do every day.

NAHB: What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?
NORB: I truly enjoy travel, so travelling the world.

NAHB: What would be the most amazing adventure to go on?
NORB: An African Safari.

NAHB: What’s the last book you read?
NORB: Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us by Daniel H. Pink.

NAHB: If you had unlimited funds to build a house that you’d live in for the rest of your life, what are the top three features it would have?
NORB: A home theater, infinity pool and an all-weather patio with firepit.

NAHB: If you could do another job just for one day, what would it be?
NORB: A pilot.

NAHB: If you could be a member of any TV-sitcom family, which would it be?
NORB: I would like to have been Archie Bunker from All in the Family (and some family members would argue that I already am like him).

NORB: Werther’s Original Hard Candy.

NAHB: If you could witness a historical event, what would you want to see?

NAHB: Do you have a success quote to share?
NORB: “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” —Winston Churchill

NAHB: In three words or less, what is your prediction for the building industry in 2019?
