Monday’s Pre-Show Educational Offerings at IBS 2022

Ten NAHB Education courses and five Master Workshops are available on Sunday, February 6 and Monday, February 7 before the start of the 2022 NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS). These half- and full-day courses give you the opportunity to learn more about a specific industry topic while increasing your skill set.

The pre-show education opportunities on Monday, February 7 include:

Business Accounting and Job Costing: A Road Map to Profitability | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
To properly manage a business, builders and remodelers need to understand accounting principles and job-costing procedures. This one-day course provides the basics of financial planning, budgeting, construction business accounting, job cost systems and financial options that will enable you to track and analyze costs of goods, overhead and reports/records to be maintained. Advanced High Performance Building: Best Practices for Climate Zones | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
When it comes to high performance home design and construction, the principles of building science remain constant while their application is determined by the project’s location. In this course, you will learn building science principles and demonstrate how to cost-effectively apply them to increase the efficiency, performance, comfort, and durability of new home and remodeling projects—for each climate zone. Understanding Today’s New Home Buyer | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Explore the dynamics of personalities, generations and cultures of today’s homebuyers as this course examines how different buyer profiles prefer to shop for and buy homes. This course will cover a wide array of topics, including best practices for marketing, advertising, merchandising and communicating; unique features that each demographic wants from their home; tips for navigating cultural; and generational differences and more. Site Planning, Approvals & Construction | 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM
Take the next step in becoming a small-volume land developer as you explore the last three steps of this eight-step process: site planning, government approvals and site improvements. During this course, learn about the typical approval and final platting process through a government authority. This course is for individuals who are new to the land development process. NOTE: The first five steps are covered in the Land Development: Getting Started, Business Management & Financial course on Sunday. (NAHB Education)

Train the Trainer | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
This one-day course is designed for building industry professionals who wish to teach NAHB educational instructor-led classroom courses; industry experts; or experienced teachers who have had no formal education in training; and any trainers who want a refresher to improve their classroom training skills. You will learn the skills needed to effectively teach in the NAHB Education curriculum. NOTE: Class size is limited to 10 participants. (NAHB Education)

Leveraging Health, Wellness & High Performance Solutions to Meet Demand | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Explore the design and construction principles of a healthy home in this workshop. Learn how to better apply building science, wellness strategies, and solutions to meet new and existing homeowners needs. (Master Workshop)

The Power of Dynamic Thinking: Embracing Change as the New Normal | 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
This workshop features a powerhouse panel of industry experts who will explore the concept of dynamic thinking. Learn how to create a culture of change across your organization that constantly allows for improved operations, competitiveness and profitability. (Master Workshop)

Essential Tools for Healthy Business Growth: Building a Foundation for Profitability & Sanity | 1:00 – 4:00 PM

Marketing Strategies for the Future: Level Out & Level Up | 1:00 – 4:00 PM
In this workshop, industry leaders will share in-depth reviews of the most effective (and ineffective) marketing tools out there and how to maximize your investment. Take away a framework of tangible steps for making the best marketing decisions for your company’s future. (Master Workshop)

The 2022 Design Charrette: Discuss, Design, Discover | 1:00 – 4:00 PM
Small groups will work with an experienced architect to explore common pitfalls, discuss changes and design specific solutions during this interactive workshop. Once completed, results will be presented to all, allowing you to discover countless new ideas and unique perspectives about today’s top designs. (Master Workshop)

Pre-show educational offerings are happening February 6–7, 2022, in Orlando, FL.  Participants may register for NAHB Education courses and Master Workshops for an additional fee, and registration will close in advance of the show.
