Spotlight on Pre-Show Education: Sunday’s Line-Up

Fourteen Pre-show courses will be offered before the start of the 2018 International Builders’
Show® (IBS). These one- and two-day
courses give you a chance dive deeper into specific industry topics and to
increase your skill set. 

Here
are the Pre-show courses offered on Sunday, January 7: 

Design Concepts for Livable Homes and Aging
in Place (CAPS II)
| 9:00 AM –
5:00 PM

There is an increased desire among today’s homeowners to
stay in their homes and living comfortably for as long as possible, which has
created a high demand for these types of products and services. The goal of
this one-day course is to help you identify common challenges within the home,
and understand attractive design concepts that create a safe and comfortable
environment for clients who wish to age in place. 

Principles of Residential Marketing:
Research & Analysis Classroom

| 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Developing a new home community that is successful begins
with market research and a solid plan. This one-day course will help you gain a
deeper understanding of the key aspects of adaptability, evaluations, level of
control and flexibility to achieve successful development projects. NOTE: The online course (Part I) must
be completed separately and is a prerequisite for taking this classroom course.

Project Management | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

A successful project is one that is built on time, on
budget and to the customer’s satisfaction. In this one-day course, you will
learn project management concepts and strategies designed to help you increase
your professionalism and the value you bring to your company and consumers. 

Spokesperson Training Part II: Presentation
Skills
| 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

If you are someone who isn’t
comfortable talking to the media or giving a presentation, Spokesperson
Training is designed to help you deliver your message in a thoughtful,
effective way. Part II provides approaches to organizing and delivering a
successful speech or presentation to various audiences. NOTE: This is Part II of a two-day course, with Part I held on
Saturday. 

Train the Trainer | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

This one-day course is designed for building industry
professionals who wish to teach NAHB educational instructor-led classroom
courses, industry experts or experienced teachers who have had no formal
education in training and any trainers who want a refresher to improve their
classroom training skills. You will learn the skills needed to effectively
teach in the NAHB Education curriculum. NOTE:
Class size is limited to 10 participants.

Nowhere else during the year will you find all of these
courses available in one place, at one time. Pre-show
courses
are offered January 6 – 8, 2018 in Orlando, and registration for Pre-show
courses will close in advance of the show.
