Spotlight on Pre-Show Education: Business Management for Building Professionals

Pre-show courses at the NAHB International Builders’ Show® (IBS) give you the chance to become completely immersed in a specific topic. There will be 27 pre-show courses offered at IBS. Nowhere else during the year will you find all of these courses available in one place, at one time. Pre-show courses are offered January 6 – 9, 2017 in Orlando.

Business Management for Building Professionals is a one-day course designated for builders, remodelers and other home building industry professionals who want a solid foundation for managing a small to medium-sized building/remodeling business. It explains critical elements such as planning and evaluating progress and presents practical tips for managing a business successfully. Upon completion of this course, you’ll have a solid grasp on best practices in business whether you are a new or experienced business owner.

As a graduate of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify common business challenges and ways to overcome them
  • Describe how to plan effectively to achieve business success and which processes a company needs in place in order to run efficiently
  • Identify methods for recruiting, interviewing, training and retaining quality personnel
  • Identify performance tools and methods to evaluate your progress
