What area of the building industry do you represent?

Sales & Marketing. I’ve been in and around the homebuilding industry since
I moved to Central Florida in 1983. For the past 15 years, 90% of my client base has included developers, custom home builders and remodelers. I belong to three Central Florida HBAs and get the most out of my memberships by volunteering. I have total access to builders and enjoy networking every chance I get. I am actively involved on local, state and the NAHB Board of Directors. My real passion (besides helping my clients succeed) is volunteering on local and state Sales & Marketing Councils.

Last year I volunteered to become an IBS ambassador*. And why not?! I typically go to IBS each year and already encourage everyone I know to go, so it just made sense. I also volunteer on local Builder-Realtor Committees, Chair my local Parade of Homes Committee and judge Parades all over Florida. The friends and business connections I’ve made in the homebuilding industry are truly priceless.

How long have you been coming to IBS?

I believe the Orlando show, January 2005 was my first show. The 2015 show was my third year in a row going to IBS in Las Vegas. I’ve found the recent shows to be more fun, engaging and educational – not to mention larger and well attended compared to shows during the down turn. Not surprising since the partnership between IBS and KBIS for Design & Construction Week® makes perfect sense on so many levels.

Why do you choose to come to IBS?

Las Vegas was the initial reason a few years ago because I had never been before and it took very little effort to convince some of my suppliers, vendors and clients (who had been to Vegas many times) to make the trip with me. This year I committed myself to attending more IBS Education. Oh, and as a Spike Club Member, the free Spike Concert tickets to ZZ TOP, Cheap Trick and Pat Benatar weren’t bad reasons to attend IBS either.

What was your IBS 2015 show experience like?

This year was without a doubt THE BEST! John Gruden, NFL Head Coach of the Super bowl winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers was the Opening Ceremonies Keynote Speaker. He was motivational as you would expect from a head coach and really funny.

Typically my early morning started with IBS education, then the show floor, then more IBS education. I capped off the evening with networking and Las Vegas Strip entertainment. I spent more time visiting and collecting information from the show floor than ever before! There is so much relevant product information to absorb it takes multiple visits to see it all. When I came home, my “goodie bags” were full of cool stuff and information to share with my clients, associates and local HBA friends.

The Nationals! Wow. What a talented group of marketing people we have in our industry! The Awards Ceremony was extraordinary on Tuesday night. Kudos to the winners! More Networking!

IBS LIVE! What a great concept this is. Hard to miss it right smack in the middle of the show floor!  Very well attended, awesome topics and interaction with the audience.

Design & Construction Week®. The entire experience was packed with so many high-powered programs, it was hard to choose between the programs I didn’t want to miss.

What do you find to be the most valuable aspects of attending IBS?

Education. Networking. Followed by more EDUCATION! The 2015 Super Sales Rally with John Palumbo was over the top. I mean incredible. It was worth the trip to Vegas all by itself! All the sales and marketing programs I attended were top notch. Sales Central had non-stop high-level speakers, and with breakfast, lunch and afternoon networking, the room was always packed.
